I
love hearing how people celebrate the holidays and make things
extra special for their families, so I thought TBP visitors might
enjoy some too!

Every
year I buy my daughter Miranda a Christmas ornament.
I plan to keep them over the years so when she gets older
and moves out she will have them to cherish. It is
also a way of her having her own special thing to put on
the Christmas tree. She can look forward to helping
Mommy decorate the tree every year with her own personal
ornaments. I try to buy ornaments that represent
something she does or likes. This year I bought her
a spongebob ornament! Having them personalized makes
it even more memorable. We may start making
ornaments this year as well.
Every year we go shopping for festively themed fabric - cotton flannel works best. Last year my 2-year old very excitedly picked out the patterns he liked. We cut this fabric into rectangles and sew 2 pieces together like a pillowcase - can't get any easier than 3 straight seams and a cuff! We then use these to "wrap" our gifts in, tying each with a pretty holiday ribbon. These wrapped gifts look great in a pile together, and small ones can be tied anywhere you like. We let our recipients keep the bags so they can re-use them the following year. It makes wrapping go very quickly and easy enough for kids of any ages to help. They are also environmentally-friendly.

At our house, the kids wouldn't think it was Christmas if we didn't make up a big batch of our cream cheese/chocolate truffles. We all get into the act, rolling them into different color sugars, nuts, etc. We pack them in little holiday plastic bags and give them to neighbors and friends. Holidays are not the same without traditions!
